Thanks to the existence of a competent and entrepreneurial UAS operator in Rwanda (Charis Unmanned Aerial providers), a very enabling environment (powerful federal government support to digital innovations) plus the possibility of upscaling UAS service businesses in Eastern Africa, CTA and Parrot-AIRINOV pooled sources and supported a task geared towards calibrating regarding the diagnostic design for nitrogen fertilization on wheat in Rwanda.

On 26 January 2018, by issuing choice EX.CL/Dec. 986-1007 (XXXII), the Executive Council associated with the African Union (AU), requested the AU and Member shows to harness drones for agriculture as a selected rising technology of relevance for growth of the African continent. In line with this continent-wide policy suggestion, CTA made a decision to support an increase in the amount of supported drone providers and countries covered across Africa.

In this context, CTA has launched a 2018-2019 task centering on Sub-Saharan Africa, called “Transforming African farming: Eyes in the Sky, Smart Techs on the Ground”. Parrot partnered into the project by providing CTA-supported drone operators the chance to purchase gear (Parrot Disco-Pro Ag or Parrot Bluegrass) at reduced prices.
